Can I buy single-issue comic books on the webstore?
Short answer: no.
Longer answer: No, but...if you're looking for backissues please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with a list of what you're looking for and we can see what we have! Unfortunately there's just too many backissues for us to put up on this site for browsing.
How does pick-up for my order work?
We are offering pick-up of orders every day from 11am-6pm at our shop at 319 College Street. Once you receive an email saying that your order is ready for pick-up, head on over to the shop. Our pick-up kiosk is located in the middle of our storefront, and if no one is there when you arrive please do ring the bell to let us know you're there.
How soon will I get my order?
We are packing and shipping orders Monday through Friday, and in most cases we ship using our standard courier, Canpar. For in-stock books, we can usually send them out with Canpar on the same day we receive the order. Canpar usually takes a couple of days to deliver in the Greater Toronto Area, and usually only a handful of business days to most places in Canada.
For some very local orders, our staff may bike your order to you! This is even faster!
Shipping times, especially for any out-of-stock titles, are in many cases drastically affected by the COVID-19 crisis. If your order will be significantly delayed, we'll contact you.

I see CRIME AND PUNISHMENT listed on your webstore. Can I buy "real" books from you?!
Short answer: Yes! Non-comics books will almost certainly be special orders, but we're happy to bring them in for you when possible.
Longer, more accurate answer: Mostly yes! We have access to the entire catalogues of most English-language and French-language publishers. For comics, we most often can bring titles in for you without requiring payment in advance. But since prose books fall outside of our usual purview, and we don't have a customer for them if you change your mind, we ask our customers to pre-pay for these types of orders.
Aside from pre-payment, non-comics orders are pretty much the same as any other special order. Why not get a copy of The Handmaid's Tale to go with your copy of The Handmaid's Tale?
Why is the rare, out-of-print book I want only $14.99 on your site, when everywhere else it's going for $200?!
Interesting question, that doesn't really have a short answer! Our webstore relies on our own database of products, as well as industry data and meta-data from publishers and other partners. This is great, because it means all of the books - including most images, blurbs, and info - just show up, rather than us having to manually add each book. But there are drawbacks, and this is one of them.
Basically - unusually low prices on rare or out-of-print books are systemic errors for which there's no easy workaround. For 99.8% of the orders we get, this is not an issue. But occasionally we find that our site displays the publisher's original list price of an item (e.g. $14.99) instead of its sticker price (e.g. $200). This sucks, because we'd love to have a 100% accurate site, and we'd even love to be able to feature these rare items on their own page so you can see all the cool stuff we have in stock! But we just don't have the tools to pefect this right now, and we're sorry for any momentary confusion this situation might cause.
If you've been scouring the internet for a deal on a rare book that's generally $200, and you find it here for $14.99...it's very likely that the price you're seeing is an error. Don't worry - we'll never charge your card a different price from what you see on the site without getting in touch with you first.
So - go ahead and place that order, and we'll let you know what's up! We have lots of deals on the site, and maybe you found one! Or maybe our data is just a bit off for that book. We'll update this FAQ as we continue to improve the accuracy of our online pricing.
I'm an educator or library worker. Can I order for my institution on the webstore?
Not exactly! But you can certainly use the webstore as a selection tool as part of the process!

What types of payment do you accept?
For web orders, we accept Visa and MasterCard, either through our online store or over the phone (if you want to pay over the phone, choose [Contact me for payment] at checkout. We also accept Paypal or e-transfers to email@example.com.
UPDATE: You can now choose our [Click & Collect] option to pay by cash or debit when you pick up your order.
Do you ship outside of Canada?
The cost of shipping varies wildly depending on the destination, and for international shipments we usually try to price a few different options to see what makes the most sense. Since that requires a real human, the webstore won't be able to automatically let you know what the shipping costs will be as you place the order. But, regardless of the payment options you select, no charges for international orders will be processed until we contact you to confirm the details and cost of the shipping. So go ahead and place your international order, and we'll be in touch!
What about Curbside Shopping?
